Being handed the frog heads two weeks before the deadline this project did pose a challenge. The inside structure of the hats was made out of withy sticks and many parks were stuck on with thin layers of latex that was peeling off, and loose bits of sharp wire sitting in the head rest. They also needed to fit twelve different actors that would be dancing, jumping and cartwheeling on stage, and they hadn't been fitted. My first job was ensuring the inner structure was secure, and the head rest was safe and as comfortable as possible. Foam was the best option to make the head rests comfortable, and was multi purposeful to ensure they would fit all the actors. The eyes had to be made from plastic Christmas baubles that can be split in to two and tissue paper, with lights inserted inside, and pupils painted on the outside. I also added addition withy stick decorations to bring the frog heads in to the language of the puppets of the opera.
